Endeavor College Prep is a transitional kindergarten through eighth-grade charter school serving the historically underserved neighborhoods of Boyle Heights, Lincoln Heights, and surrounding Eastside communities. Among our early accomplishments are a 2012 California Distinguished School Award and a #8 ranking in USC’s 2013 list of top charter schools in the state. Our student population is 100% extraordinary, 97% Latino, 95% free/reduced lunch, 38% English Language Learners, and 14% of our students receive special education services.

Our team is made up of a highly collaborative group of professionals who share a passion for closing the achievement gap. We have high expectations for academics and discipline, and simultaneously value joy in the classroom, making learning enjoyable for our scholars and teachers. We believe that a Behavior Aide would be an incredible support to our existing teacher team, and we also hope that the right behavior aide might become a full-time TA or teacher with us next year.

Position Summary

This position includes work for the school during normal school hours and the primary duties include:

  • Providing instructional and behavioral support to students with challenging behaviors, which may include physical aggression towards others
  • Administering one-on-one ABA-based intensive behavior intervention methods, including Discrete Trial Training (DTT), to designated students in a school setting as directed by supervisor or other specialist
  • Implementing and documenting implementation of behavior support plans and/or therapy plans for behavior
  • Assisting students in learning appropriate coping skills and replacement behaviors, social awareness, and development of self-awareness and self-regulation skills 
  • Tracking effectiveness of behavior supports through detailed data collection and observations
  • Utilizing approved behavior management techniques to redirect and modify inappropriate student behavior and reinforce appropriate behavior
  • Communicating regularly with teachers, support staff, and families regarding student progress including any behavioral changes
  • Supporting academic instruction to individuals or small groups of students as assigned
  • Participating in related IEP meetings and/or collaborative team meetings
  • Attending relevant professional development sessions and trainings

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and one of the following:
    • Two years of college (60+ units) or
    • A.A. degree (or higher)
  • If hired:
    • Submission of transcripts to show degree conferred (or in progress)
    • Livescan fingerprint clearance
    • TB test clearance
    • CPR/First Aid clearance (can be completed immediately after hire)
    • CPI training (can be provided upon hire)

Preferred Qualifications

  • One or more years of paraprofessional experience in a charter school, school district or non-public school
  • Demonstrated experience in a behavior support role, particularly expertise or training working with individuals on the autism spectrum
  • Bachelors degree in a related field: child development, psychology, special education, etc.  
  • Fluency in Spanish
